The French call it a cloche, others call it a bell jar. How about we agree to call it GREAT? Seriously, it works in just about any home! Ok, maybe not the super-duper-modern home or maybe not the tree house. Well, I suppose it could work in a nice tree house. However, if you live like the rest of us, then this is for you! If you don’t have one, STOP, go to your grandma’s and ask her if she has one. Or, visit your local T.J. Max or Home Goods and buy one or five!
For those of you that are history buffs, here is a little background on the Cloche. France is where the (bell jar) cloche was born, so to speak. The French do everything in style, including a decorative solution for frost-bitten foliage. The glass cloche was originally used to protect frost-tender plants in the garden, but these old-fashioned bell jars are useful—and so darn cute! I fell in love with true French design while visiting France a few years back.
The cold wind and low temps have me wanting to bring a little foliage inside to enjoy. This is one way the cloche can be used, but there are many more! Decorating for seasonal use, weddings, everyday, gardens, plants, or just to be flat out clever! I am telling you people there are COUNTLESS ways these French goodies can be used!
Display pictures, books, collectables, plants, or by themselves. They are a great way to give the ordinary a focus. They add a little shine, and dimension. So if you are home now from shopping for your cloche or from visiting Grandma for hers get on it, show it off! Post a picture on instagram of how you used yours and hashtag it #eringallowayinteriors #cloche and we will share our favorites!!
I told you there was a million ways to love a Cloche! Hope you like the few ideas shown in this post! Bonjour!
